Keith Lemon and Jimmy Carr have ripped into Brian McFadden after it was revealed that the singer will not be joining the rest of Westlife on their reunion tour.
The comedians questioned Brian pretty relentlessly on Celebrity Juice about his time in the band and we low key loved every moment of it. ‘It’s just been announced, Westlife are reuniting. Are you excited to be back with the boys?’ Keith asked. ‘I wasn’t invited,’ Brian replied. Not letting it go, Jimmy questioned: ‘To be in Westlife? But you were in Westlife?’ ‘I was only in Westlife at the beginning though.’ After that, you might think they’d let it go. Not a chance. ‘How long were you in Westlife?’ ‘Six years.’ Ouch.
That’s long enough,’ Jimmy told him, with Brian agreeing: ‘I thought so.’ Almost done with their questioning, Keith asked Brian: ‘Would you like to get back in the band?’ ‘No, it’s been too long,’ he replied. ‘I kind of thought about it last year and financially it’d be amazing, but if I were to be completely honest I’d only be doing it for the money.’ For anyone feeling bad for him, keep in mind that Brian brought it on himself after he joked that he and Victoria Beckham would be going on holiday together, with neither of them joining their respective bands for reunions. He tweeted: ‘[Victoria and I are] going on holidays together to Magaluf next June. Apologies for our absence. X’.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, the rest of the boys – Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Nicky Byrne – are taking their tour, The Twenty Four, around the UK. The tour will kick off with two shows in Belfast on 25 and 26 May, and end in Dublin on 5 July.
