The former Westlife star had been booked to perform at the O2 Academy as part of his first headlining tour of the U.K., but struggled with vocal issues early that morning.

Complaining about his illness on Twitter.com, he wrote, “woke up and my voice is completely gone. so frustrating”.
He subsequently decided he had no choice but to cancel the show, and returned to the website hours later to alert fans to the change, tweeting, “apologies to all about tonights (sic) sheffield gig. hoping to reschedule soon”.

Meanwhile, MCFadden has also had to axe a gig in Hertfordshire, England next week (28May13) due to “unforeseen circumstances”. Ticketholders have been offered refunds for the scrapped event at The Forum Hertfordshire.

FORMER Westlife star Brian McFadden has cancelled his Hatfield concert next week. He is currently performing across the UK but has had to back out of his show at The Forum Hertfordshire next Tuesday.

Brian’s management team said: “Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we have to cancel The Forum Hertfordshire show on 28th May.

“Either general admission or VIP Tickets purchased for this show will be valid for either O2 Academy Oxford this Sunday evening or O2 Academy Islington on Monday 27th May.

“If you have purchased VIP tickets please bring your receipt with you to either show at 5.50pm.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you at #BrianLive soon.”

This is the singer’s first UK solo tour since 2005 and it kicked off in Glasgow on Sunday night. The tour sees him visit Newcastle, Birmingham, Sheffield, Oxford, Liverpool and London.

Brian recently released his new album, The Irish Connection, which was full of his interpretations of some of the very best in Irish songwriting. Songs by Snow Patrol and The Cranberries feature on the album.

Earlier in the year McFadden went on tour with former Boyzone star Ronan Keating.

Having jumped ship almost ten years ago from the last of the Irish boy band sensations, Westlife, almost a decade later, and still only 33 years of age, Brian McFadden continues to flog his solo venture. A bold move for potentially every fans least favourite member- well he was up against it, we’ve all seen the pictures- thousands of screaming fans were swapped for a modest few hundred in Glasgow’s ABC2 last night.

Cackling females lined the stage in various decades of Westlife attire, working the fragrance of a PE changing room full of 14-year-olds on an aerosol frenzy. Every bit the M&S advert, these days, a leaner version of the Irish golden boy burst on to stage before schedule with an acoustic guitar and three-piece backing to the familiar yelps of female admirers. Taking a folky route with this branch of his solo venture, which fans seemed happy to comply with, his latest release, The Irish Connection, features McFadden covering ten covers by popular Irish artists.

Veering from the track listing, a cover of fellow Irish middle of the road charmers, Snow Patrol’s Final Straw and The Cranberries’ Dreams were really much less painful than they could have been with McFadden in good voice during tracks, and good humour between tracks, and the crowd much less like a hen party than initially promised.

His number one solo single, Real To Me was performed with a rockier edge, a hint of the swagger of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters in the delivery, with his band beefing up the boyband sound, though keeping its presence at the forefront by sporting some waistcoats and a few muscles.

Keeping up a mother’s dream karaoke Nothing Compares 2 U continued the sing song, though a veer into Westlife territory with Swear It Again had housewives tackling the chorus faster than a red wine stain on a cream carpet. With McFadden letting them take the lead- after all it is what he’s used to- he hit back as the crowd faded, with, “It’s a shame you don’t do that for my f****** songs.”

Heckling bar staff and the audience alike, the chirpy entertainer whipped up Queen Of My Heart whilst on that roll, with a loutish echo in the room from the crowd accompaniment. Not wanting to take things too far, a request for Mandy was met by a rapid “f*** off”, but other than that McFadden seemed happy to pull any trick in the book to keep fans entertained and happy.

An encore continued a guiltless streak through When You’re Looking Like That, before McFadden and his band allegedly ‘winged it’ through half a verse of Feeling Good, recent hit Thrift Shop, and a quick chorus of 5ive, who he claims to be a big fan of.

A shameless blast through Flying Without Wings to finish delighted the fan club, with McFadden’s ‘job done’ box officially ticked for the night.

The couple have left Australia to live in London, and Brian said he’d happily stay at home while Vogue heads out to work….

The singer, 33, who has moved back to London with his wife Vogue after a stint in Australia, said it was the experience of his first UK tour in eight years that persuaded them to come back. He told Hello! Magazine: “We only really decided to move back when we got back.”

The couple, who married in Tuscany in September, lived in Sydney for two years – though Vogue admits she missed her family. ”I’ve never met anybody who has so many close friends,” said Brian. “I think she was probably getting a bit edgy in Australia, just being the two of us.”

Brian decided to release a new album and tour again after supporting his mentor Ronan Keating this year. He said: “It was my first time touring in eight years and I didn’t know how it was going to be. When I got such a good response after the first few gigs, I thought if ever I was going to come back and put an album out and do a tour, this was obviously the time.”

Vogue, 27, said they would like to start a family. Brian has two daughters Molly, 11, and Lilly, 10, from his first marriage to Kerry Katona. She said: “I don’t feel I’m in any rush, but it’s one of the reasons I wanted to make a base here. I think 30 would be a good age – I still have lots of things I want to achieve.” Brian said: “I’d like to see Vogue concentrate on her career. I’d be happy to be a stay-at-home dad.”

Meanwhile, his fellow Westlife member Kian Egan has said he and wife Jodi Albert are too busy with their careers to have another child. The Voice judge told the Evening Herald, that his wife is busy concentrating on her acting career, so 18-month-old son Koa will not have a sibling for the forseeable future. ”We’re definitely not having another one in the near future,” he said. ”Jodi is making a move back to work and she has two big offers on the table, so that is our main concern for now.”

Kian and his English wife currently divide their time between his native Sligo and London, as The Voice judge juggles commitments in Ireland and in the UK. ”Neither of us has time at the moment, but at the same time, we’re not going to leave it too long,” he said. ”We’re both still young and don’t want there to be a huge gap between the kids. We would like Koa to have a little brother or sister to play with.”

Irish singer BRIAN MCFADDEN insists on driving his own tour bus when he is on the road because he hates travelling as a passenger.
The former Westlife star is gearing up for a tour of the U.K. in May (13), and he is planning to take the driving seat as he goes between venues.

Speaking on chat show This Morning on Thursday (28Mar13), he explains, “I just can’t be a passenger, I hate it! I’m the worst passenger in the world… I come in in a big Merc (Mercedes) van.”

However, McFadden’s desire to drive himself almost ruined a gig in Blackpool when he got lost.

He adds, “I drove for the soundcheck perfect, no problem… went back to the hotel (to shower)… an hour and a half later on the way back, couldn’t find it, they were ringing going ‘You’re supposed to be onstage now!’

“We could find the front of the venue but not where the backstage was. It’s a pedestrian area, like a shopping area, so I just drove up the pedestrian area, parked right outside in front of the gig… we all got off, me and the band straight through the front door of the auditorium, pushing people out of the way, up to the front, straight on stage!”

Brians new album, The Irish Connection is out now – If you haven’t already pre-ordered your copy, you can purchase the album either at: Amazon, Play, iTunes or a Signed CD (limited time only)

“The Irish Connection” features Brian’s interpretations of some of the very best in Irish songwriting and showcases the strength and versatility of Brian’s voice.

Each track was personally chosen by Brian and range from artists such as Snow Patrol, The Cranberries and Damien Rice to Enya and Van Morrison. Ronan Keating and Brian team up to duet on U2’s epic “All I Want Is You” – the albums focus track. Brian will also be joining Ronan on his ‘Fires’ tour, which begins on January 16th in Bristol and includes a landmark date at London’s O2 Arena.

The album features phenomenal Irish talent Sinead O’Connor as she joins Brian for the Irish classic ‘Black Is The Colour’ to create their own hauntingly beautiful version. Classic rocker Christy Dignam completes the line-up on Aslan’s own ‘Crazy World’. Produced by both Brian and his long time co-producer Robert Conley, the album was recorded in Dublin and Sydney.

Brian said, “This album is something I have wanted to do for a long time. Ireland has produced some of the greatest songs in history and I decided I would put my own twist on a collection of my favourite ever Irish songs.”

By returning to his Irish heritage, Brian has put his own mark on this personal collection of songs which showcases his voice at its very best.
