BRIAN McFadden and Keith Duffy joked they created their Boyzlife duo because they were BROKE – and Brian had too many ex wives to pay for.

The cheeky Irish pair, who were previously adored by fans of separate groups Boyzone and Westlife, made their revelation on today’s Good Morning Britain.

When asked why they created the man band by hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan, former Boyzone star Keith said: “We were broke!

“Brian has too many wives.”

His quip about Brian’s former spouses Kerry Katona and Vogue Williams didn’t seem to offend the Westlife singer.

He was quick to set the record straight and said: “We got offered to do books all the time but we never wanted to do it.

“When Keith tells a story he talks it out and we wanted to do a show talking of our story and acting it out.”

He added: “We have quite similar lives as well.”

They joined forces for their new project earlier this year, sharing stories from their time on the road as well as singing some of their respective band’s biggest hits, including No Matter What and Flying Without Wings.

Today Piers grilled them as to how they chose the name Boyzlife – instead of plumping for Westzone.

Brian laughed and said: “It’s because Westzone is a car park outside Dublin Airport.

“It’s also something you use to clean your toilet,” to which Keith replied: “That’s Paragon!”

Popstars Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden have admitted that they risked their life savings for their Boyzlife tour.

The singers, who were formerly members of Boyzone and Westlife respectively, delved into their own pockets in order to cover the cost for their 12-date tour, which they organised without a concert promoter.

“That meant we fronted the costs ourselves until the tickets sold,” McFadden said.

“It was a big risk,” he added, “We had absolutely no idea how it would be received, we went in totally blind.”

“Keith and I knew we had a great concept, and we said to reach other on evening over dinner, let’s roll the dice, we believe in the idea so let’s go for it, it was pretty terrifying,” he told the Irish Sun on Sunday.

The Dublin duo can be seen in their new DVD sweating over the cost of their gamble as tour expenses begin to climb.

Things got worse as McFadden’s former Westlife bandmate Kian Egan voiced his anger and concern at the duo forming their own group, citing that fans might be mislead into believing Boyzone and Westlife are back together.

“It was really unfair on the fans that everybody thought that this was what’s happening, you know that Westlife and Boyzone were getting together to do a tour,” Egan said in March.

“From the perspective of someone who spent 15 years in Westlife it was really aggravating.”

Ex-Boyzone member Duffy told the paper, “The night before tickets went on sale was definitely a sleepless night for us.”

“We were terrified,” he said, “If the tickets didn’t sell, we were going to be in a bad place.”

Tickets for the tour, which ranged from €40-€100, sold out within six hours of going on sale.

Singers Ellie Goulding and Brian McFadden have put their names forward to replace British TV presenter Chris Evans as the host of popular motoring show Top Gear.

Evans quit the beleaguered series on Monday after joining former Friends star Matt LeBlanc to front the revamped BBC show for its first run since the departure of former presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
However, the new Top Gear failed to win over viewers following its return to TV screens in May, and it ended its latest season with the lowest audience of its current series, according to figures released by the BBC. It averaged 1.9 million viewers on Sunday night, a mere 8.6 per cent of the available audience.

Announcing his decision to resign via Twitter, Evans simply wrote: “Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.”
His exit has since prompted both Ellie and Brian to offer up their services to BBC bosses in social media posts on Monday, with the Burn hitmaker jokingly tweeting, “FINE I’ll present Top Gear”.

Former Westlife star Brian McFadden was more forthright in his proposition.

“Dear @BBC_TopGear I will happily drive the best cars in the world and get paid for it! AND be pretty happy about it!” he began. The Irish singer then poked fun at the problems with prompted Clarkson’s departure from the show last year, after he was initially suspended for becoming embroiled in a bust-up with producer Oisin Tymon over catering arrangements.

Brian added, “And @BBC_TopGear I promise not to punch any producers or hit on anyone! Except matt le blanc. He’s dreamy”.

Westlife’s Brian McFadden and Boyzone’s Keith Duffy have formed their own supergroup called Boyzlife which is the most genius name ever if we’re honest.

At the moment it’s just Brian and Keith in the band – but Brian’s hinted that the other boys could be joining them at some point later down the line.

Well, it’d be rude not to.

Brian told Hello!: “Who knows, next year you might have Kian and Shane doing it together or Mikey and Mark, there’s kind of an open idea for anyone who wants to do it.

“Because we’re from two different bands people want to know if anyone else will join. But this year is about me and Keith, and if anyone else wants to get involved further down the line we’ll surely talk about it, but right now it’s just us two.”

Keith confirmed that the rest of Boyzone and Westlife are “very supportive” about the whole supergroup idea.

Corrie star Keith then explained how he came up with the idea that he and Brian should join up to do shows together in the first place – after going out and getting drunk together.

He said: “An idea was born and the next day with our hangovers we decided, ‘You know what, we come up with an awful lot of ideas when we’re drunk, we’ve just remembered one for the first time.’”

Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden will embark on a UK tour later this year, kicking off in October. The tour will consist of 12 dates in total, with tickets on sale from 9am on March 8.

In a press release, Duffy says of the news: “Brian and I have been talking about this for a while so it’s really exciting to finally be able to reveal Boyzlife. We can’t wait to get out on the road and reconnect with our fans, taking a trip down memory lane.”

McFadden added: “Keith and I have always been great friends and we’ve wanted to work together for quite a while now. With the amount of stories between us we knew it would make for a great live show, mixed in with a few songs!”

McFadden also hinted to The Sun that the other members of the two acts might be open to joining the supergroup. He said: “We all had a chat [at Ronan Keating’s wedding last year], the lads. We said it would be amazing. Not even just performing together, but can you imagine the craic?”

“Nine of us Irish lads on a tour bus together, going round the world together. It would be absolutely carnage. We all get on so well so you never know. We could end up adding more people to the next one. Right now this is about me and Keith but the door is always open.”

Brian McFadden originally left Westlife in 2004, with the remaining members continuing as a fourpiece until 2012.

Keith Duffy, meanwhile, served as a member of Boyzone from 1993–2000, before reuniting with the group when they reformed in 2008.
