Stand By Your Man – Coming this summer to Channel 5

Girls, get your glad rags on and get in line as Brian McFadden and Laura Jackson are today announced as hosts of Channel 5’s brand new dating show Stand By Your Man, produced by ITV Studios and GroupM Entertainment. Which of our single guys will win over the hearts and votes of the majority of our girls and who, from their queue of adoring fans will our eligible bachelors choose to take on a date that could be the beginning of the ultimate romance?

Brian McFadden is best known for being one of the lead singers of mega-band Westlife (which sold over 50 million records worldwide & achieved 12 UK Number 1’s with Brian), as well, Brian’s debut solo single Real To Me shot straight to the top of the UK charts and gained huge success across Europe. He has more recently been a judge on Australia’s Got Talent, and now back in the UK full time, Brian has had an extremely busy twelve months with a UK tour, new music, guest presenting on ITV’s Daybreak as their entertainment correspondent and reaching the final of ITV’s Stepping Out with his wife Vogue. He comments: “I’m over the moon to host this show. Dating should be a fun and exciting experience and I’m looking forward to creating some compatible matches, fingers crossed!”

Laura Jackson has hosted Celebrity Super Spa and reported for Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side for Channel 5. She’s also presented Channel 4’s Freshly Squeezed with Nick Grimshaw and Rick Edwards plus segments for ITV’s This Morning. More recently she’s been presenting ITV’s Scrambled. She comments: “Dating’s already a game, so Stand By Your Man isn’t a step that far from most of our weekend lives anyway! I look forward to encouraging the girls to put the guys through their paces.”

In Stand By Your Man, four male contestants compete to win a date with one of 40 girls from the studio audience. The guys face various rounds of fun challenges, each with the aim of revealing more about themselves and influencing the girls’ decisions. At the end of each round, the girls are asked to choose their favourite guy by standing in his respective line. Throughout the antics, Brian and Laura mingle with the girls and the guys, revealing further cheeky snippets of information about them all – so that everyone can really get to know each other. The guy chosen by the most girls at the end of the show is the winner. He gets to choose one lucky girl to take on the date – but will cupid’s arrow strike?
